Does your horse get cracked or sore lips? The corners of the horse's lips are particularly sensitive to drying out and cracking, or becoming sore. When you're bringing a horse back into work, or increasing your horse's frequency or level of training, it is important to prevent soreness - you can prevent it with Bit Butter.
Bit Butter is perfect to apply to the horse's lips, particularly the corners. It encourages acceptance of the bit and salivation. Because Bit Butter softens and lubricates the lips, it reduces friction of the bit, to aid the horse's comfort and help to prevent mouth pain.
Think of it a little like when you wear new shoes and need a little extra padding the first few times, until the leather softens. In the case of the horse's bit, a well-fitting and good quality bit will be smooth enough that it should be comfortable. But the horse's lips will be very soft initially. If they are also dry, you don't want the horse's mouth to become sore while the skin is getting used to the bit.
Bit Butter is enriched with a blend of natural butters, essential oils and sweeteners, to ensure it is palatable to the horse.
Ideal for use on young horses being backed, or for horses who have been out of work for some time, to help prevent sore, dry skin, or to encourage the horse to apply more focus and attention to instructions through the bit.
Two tub sizes are available - 114g (4oz) and a handy travel size of 57g (2oz), which is perfect for keeping in the show grooming kit for use when you and your horse are out and about at shows or clinics.
