The Neue Schule Team Up bit is the ergonomically modernised French Link snaffle; a much more comfortable mouthpiece that promotes better performance all round.
There used to be a misconception that the French Link snaffle was a very mild bit, but this lacked the understanding of what happens to the mouthpiece when the rein contact is taken up. On a regular French Link snaffle, when the rein contact is taken up and the bit rotates in the mouth, the centre of the mouthpiece digs into the tongue.
This is not so with the Team Up, which uses the far more comfortable lozenge shape. Whilst it exerts greater pressure on the centre of the tongue when the rein contact is taken up, it is not harsh like the French Link. This lozenge is designed to share the tongue contact area with the adjacent loops to give a smoother feel over the tongue.
The double joint allows more flexibility ensuring a clearer and more independent rein aid.
