Super-Absorbent Stable Bedding
High absorbency means your horse's feet stay dry, minimising the risk of thrush and other serious hoof conditions that can be caused by standing in wet bedding.
Safer for You and Your Horses' Lungs
Using the most absorbent bedding you can also minimises ammonia. If you can smell ammonia in your horse's stable, it's probably already doing damage to his respiratory system. And that means you are also susceptible. So maintaining a clean, healthy environment with absorbent bedding material is super-important.
Extremely Low Dust
Concord is about as close as you will get to dust-free bedding. We all know there is no such thing as completely dust-free bedding, whatever anyone tells us. But in tests, Concord has been shown to be one of the top performing bedding choices for minimising dust particles that can harm your horse's (and your) lungs.
Economical with Minimal Waste
If you have ever mucked out a regular straw stable, you will know how much extra straw gets picked up with the fork. But straw pellets are different, they're much easier to shake off the excess, so that your wheelbarrow should only contain soiled bedding and dung.
That makes for less wasted bedding AND a much smaller muck heap, so that you're also spending less money on having the muck heap removed. Add to that, some farmers will not take shavings or wood-based products in muck heaps. So if your local farmer will only take straw, now muck heap removal is easier without having to resort to using regular straw.
Quick and Easy to Muck Out
Concord Straw Pellets are so easy to muck out. Simply remove the dung daily, and the wet when it is visible. It separates easily, so that it's easy for you to pick up without breaking your back. Mucking out is much faster and easier than with regular straw, even with the wettest of mares and foals.
You can use the bags dry, since the horse's hooves will break down the pellets, or you can speed up that process by adding some water for a fluffy, well cushioned bed.
Environmentally Responsible
Concord is a natural product, a by-product of British arable farming made from 100% British wheat straw. It is plentiful in supply and doesn't need to be imported. And of course, it is biodegradable, so can simply be returned to farmland to continue the cycle.
Easy to Handle and Store
Concord's 15kg bags are safer to carry than larger bedding bales (bearing in mind that the maximum weight recommendation for women is around 20kg, and some bedding is packed in 25kg bales). They take up less storage room, and can be stored outside if necessary (although we still recommend some form of protection from the elements if possible).
