The Neue Schule Tranz Universal bit offers control without discomfort or severity. It is brilliant for faster work such as jumping as you can turn much more easily.
The Universal also helps to eliminate the head toss when asking for a downward transition, or shortening in between fences. If you need to upgrade from a snaffle, it is highly recommended as it offers varying degrees of control.
Also an excellent training tool prior to introducing double bits, when you use two reins and a leather curb strap (available separately).
To use a curb strap with the Universal bit, the leather curb strap attaches to the top ring and goes under the horse's chin (note that it will sit further back than a curb chain). This then engages the headpiece of the bridle when the rein contact rotates the bit in the mouth, which in turn applies additional poll pressure.
